Judy Herold

Judith is a Senior Project Engineer at the Water Research Laboratory. She completed a PhD in the field of hydrodynamic modelling in coastal and ocean waters at The University of Sydney. Her thesis research involved the development of a non-hydrostatic hydrodynamic code based on finite elements for the modelling of topography induced internal wave behaviour in the coastal ocean. Due to her research, she has a strong theoretical background into hydrodynamic and turbulence modelling.

Since graduating, Judith’s experience as a consulting engineer has mainly been on modelling and assessing the hydrodynamics of coastal waters and estuary waterways. Her modelling work supports environmental impact assessments, design of marine infrastructure and water quality studies in which an understanding of hydrodynamic behaviour and contaminant fate and risk is paramount. In addition to technical modelling experience, Judith also has experience in field investigations in order to obtain important supporting met ocean data.
