Dr Stefan Felder

Stefan is an expert in physical modelling of turbulent free-surface flows.

Dr Stefan FelderStefan Felder is a Lecturer at the Water Research Laboratory. He holds a Dipl.-Ing. in Civil Engineering with specialisation in environmental technology from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He completed his PhD in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2013 for which he was awarded the Dean’s award for Research Higher Degree Excellence.

Stefans current research interests include transitional open-channel flows and air-water flows in hydraulic structures. Stefan has gained experience at several hydraulic laboratories in Germany, the UK and Australia and is excited to continue his research at WRL. As a member of the Brisbane Organisation Committee for the 2011 IAHR World Congress, he was responsible for the student and young professional activities. At UNSW Stefan will be teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in water engineering with special focus on fluid mechanics and hydraulic engineering.
